Ordering and products
What is a SARTSM sign code?
SARTSM stands for the South African Road Traffic Signs Manual. Each standard road sign has a code, such as R1 for stop or R2 for yield. Quoting the code when you order helps make sure you get the right sign.
Do you sell to the public or only to businesses?
We supply businesses, contractors, estates, schools and individuals. If a product has an online price, you can order it from the shop.
Which products have no online price?
Guardrail (W-beam), guardrail end terminals, crash cushions, wire rope safety fence and truck-mounted attenuators are supplied by quotation. Custom signs and services are also quoted. Use the quote form.
What sizes do road signs come in?
Typical sizes are 600, 900, 1200 and 1500 mm. The size you need depends on how far away the sign must be read. See choosing sign size.
What materials are available?
ABS plastic, Chromadek steel, reflective Chromadek, aluminium substrate, photoluminescent ABS or Chromadek, vinyl stickers (with or without laminate) and signs with aluminium frames, single or double-sided. See choosing sign materials.
What does sign only, sign with unistruts and sign with stand mean?
Sign only is the sign by itself. Sign with unistruts includes the mounting strips fitted to the back so it can be bolted to a post. Sign with stand includes a stand so it can be placed on a surface. Check each product page for what is included.
Can I get a custom sign made?
Yes. Send your wording, size, material and artwork. The custom sign builder page explains what to include.
What artwork format do you need?
Artwork must be in a recognised graphics format, with all fonts included and images in CMYK. See preparing artwork.
Do I need permission to put up a road sign?
On a public road, requirements and permissions must be confirmed with the relevant road authority or municipality before installing. On private property, check with the owner, body corporate or site manager. We do not state that any product is approved for public roads.
Installation, delivery and payment
Can you install the signs?
Yes, by quotation. We also do site surveys, road marking and sign replacement. See book a site survey or installation.
Where do you deliver?
We are Johannesburg-based and serve Gauteng. See delivery and collection for details.
Can I collect my order?
Collection can be arranged. We will confirm the details when your order is confirmed, since no address is published on this website.
How do I pay?
Terms are strictly COD unless a credit application has been approved by our accounts department. See the terms and conditions.
How long is a quotation valid?
A quotation is valid for 30 days from its date, except for material price increases, and is subject to stock availability, sight of final artwork and our standard terms.
Returns, quality and quantities
Can I return a sign?
Standard stock items may be returned in line with our returns policy. Custom-made items are excluded unless they are defective.
What if my order arrives damaged or wrong?
Tell us as soon as possible with your order number and photos. The process is set out under returns and refunds.
Do glow-in-the-dark signs work in total darkness?
Photoluminescent signs absorb light and glow afterwards, fading over time. They are meant as an aid when lighting fails, and they need to be charged by light. Read the product page and speak to your safety officer about where they are required.
How do I choose between reflective and non-reflective?
Reflective signs return light from headlights, so they are generally chosen for signs seen by drivers at night. See reflective material options.
How many signs can I order at once?
As many as you need. For large or mixed orders, use the quote form and read our bulk ordering guide.
